Yulong Financial Centre
Reaching for Greater Heights
Located at Jianshe Avenue, the Wall Street of Wuhan, Yulong Financial Centre is a 55-storey mixed use development integrating Grade A offices, luxury condominiums at the high floors and a commercial podium with support facilities, retail and restaurants.

Strategically located with good commercial exposure on all sides, the project provided an opportunity to create an important node for the city. The team sought to create a big ‘city room’ environment, a social centre for the along this busy commercial axis. The commercial podium façade was designed as a large glass volume of three floors, which creates a transparent externalised atrium and an inner sheltered environment for the public. The public plaza’s landscape further extends into the ‘city room’ to blur the boundaries between the interior and exterior.
Unlike other mixed-use developments, there had been almost no precedence in which a residential development was stacked above an office tower, and at such height. This project set new standards – structurally, architecturally and in terms of authority requirements – for this hybrid typology.
The office tower and podium adopt the concept of interlocking forms – the eastern and western façades is broken down into several volumetric blocks with different treatments. The crown lights up at night to mark its presence as an important node for the city. The podium façade is designed with a double skin for sunshading and visual impact; its textural quality as a contrast to the clean glass tower façade.
The residential development at the top of the tower has a generous sky transfer lobby, surrounded by a garden with a panoramic view of the city. The residential clubhouse below the sky lobby features an indoor swimming pool, sauna, gym, entertainment rooms and a café.
